Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an inner city struggling through issues of drugs, crime, and poverty, but despite it all they maintain a high level of hope and pride in their city.

The culture of the community is highly creative and expressive in many aspects of the arts, from visual arts, to theater, to music, to dance.

The people and students here support and embrace the creative arts unlike many wealthier areas, and the people shine very bright because of it.

My Project

The painting supplies and materials requested will help the students connect the learning of the principles and elements of design in art to the creation of their own landscape paintings. Through a series of layering of color and shading techniques, the students will develop the long term projects learning life skills such as determination, observation, and patience.

These students are highly expressive and will benefit from the opportunity to express their learning through paint.

I am grateful as a teacher to have found this incredible resource to better outfit my classroom with ample supplies to engage my students in the visual arts.
