I teach fifth grade science and social studies in a very rural community in eastern North Carolina.

My students are required to take an End-of-Grade test in science, which includes a section about landforms and plate tectonics. I know that my students will be much more successful if they have first hand knowledge of the concepts being tested. Therefore, I want my students to engage in hands-on learning in order to build a solid foundation in science. If we can spark their interest in the matters of our earth now, maybe they will be the ones to figure out how to protect and save it from destruction in the future.

The materials I am requesting will help the students immensely. They will be able to read books and look at pictures about volcanoes, earthquakes, and ocean currents. The stream table will show them how and why erasion happens. They will create canyons, streams, mountains, and volcanoes inside our classroom. These materials might inspire some future scientists today.

Your donation will insure my class' success on their state test and show them how exciting learning can be.
