My Students

Being the Media Specialist, one of my main responsibilities is to address the needs of the "whole child" and treat every student holistically. My students come with varying needs, and over 90% live in impoverished homes. Their diverse cultures, needs, and experiences mean that one size does not fit all when it comes to guidance and counseling.

Due to their parents' economic status being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that these children attend a Title I school where resources are limited, basic needs such as access to technology and school supplies are always ongoing issues.

At my school, I wear many hats, and I facilitate a vast diversity of students' and teachers' needs alike. As the media specialist, I take a very active role in my students' literacy needs, especially when it comes to ensuring that each child that comes to me has equal access to a mobile technology device.

My Project

Our students' media center needs a new laminator so that we can continue to create and laminate! Last school year, our laminator finally quit on us, and we desperately need to replace it. When we had a laminator, we were able to save and preserve all of our students' work. We would really like a new laminator to save the special work that our students create!

This laminator will also give us the opportunity to create individual task sheets, schedules, and more.

Laminators can be used to create whole group books as well as to create dry erase surfaces to practice our handwriting and math skills!

Most importantly, this laminator will help keep these materials strong and durable for years to come, not to mention keep our students safe and healthy as I can sanitize the laminated materials before and after use! My students absolutely need this laminator in order to succeed and to avoid contamination as I can spray and wipe after they have handled the materials and handouts!

With this project fully funded, I will be able to help my students and meet their individual needs by creating tasks and schedules, preserving their beautiful work, and helping them stay safe!
