My Italian students are more than just kids in an Italian class. They are language aficionados, global citizens and art historians. They come from different backgrounds and demographics yet we are woven into the fabric of each other’s lives through language and communication.
We learn by doing, creating and diving head-first into language and culture!
My students are passionate; my goal is to cultivate this passion into authentic communication skills. Many of my students have a family connection to the Italian language; they want to be able to speak to family members all over the globe. A large number of my students are already bilingual therefore they are motivated to add another language to their colorful language resume. Some of my students need to find a personal connection to the class in order to inspire them to know more. My goal is to personalize the language classroom so that all members of our classroom “family” reach the goal of language proficiency.
My Project
2020 has been the year of obstacles; we are doing all we can to face the next school year with passion and purpose. This request is designed to preserve and disinfect our learning materials and find a way to collaborate! We are working hard to best plan synchronous and asynchronous lessons and sharing material is nearly impossible! If we can laminate and clean our learning materials we can recycle and give feedback in a safe and effective way.
A laminator will allow us to preserve our work, collaborate and wipe it clean; giving us recyclable and safe resources to share.
We want to collaborate and need to find creative ways to work together. We will be able to mark the text, highlight grammar and culture, draw and annotate on a protected surface allowing us to showcase our learning and then sanitize for future use! Small steps can allow us to best meet the needs of our diverse learners! A laminator and all the fixins’ will help us maximize our time and focus our energy on learning! Whether our lessons are at home or in person, we will be able to disinfect our materials so that our students will have all they need to be successful! Fall 2020 here we come!
