Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Federico Fellini said that "A different language is a different vision of life." I would like to give my students the opportunity to become more well-rounded individuals with the ability to have more than once perspective of the world we live in. Studying a foreign language can provide this.

Our school focuses on preparing the students for careers in hospitality management.

Our student body is extremely diverse, both culturally and academically. The one thing all the students have in common is that they each chose to attend this high school out of a list of 425 schools. Although we do not have an entrance exam, our students compete with those that do on many levels, including attendance records and regents scores. Our students want to come to school and like being here. Being a school focused on careers in hospitality, I believe it is extremely important to emphasize the importance of foreign culture and language.

My Project

I try to enrich my curriculum with as many hands-on projects as possible. Every year, my students amaze me with their incredible ability to create beautiful visual representations of their learning. Whether they have spent hours on a project about Da Vinci, designed a menu for the Italian restaurant they are opening, or created a travel brochure for Venice, the results are always stunning. It is a shame when they don't make it through the whole school year. A laminator will preserve their work.

I want my students to be able to cherish the projects that they worked so hard on, and that they are so proud of.

Being able to hand back their work laminated shows them that their work is valued and worthy of being preserved.
