This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at an elementary school where eighty-three percent of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students come from low income homes.

The majority of my students come from another country and are new to the ways of our education system.

A large number of students are learning how to speak and read English for the first time. I will start the school year off with at least fifty fourth grade students and without a doubt my numbers will climb.

My Project

It would be wonderful to have access to a laminating machine and pouches in our classroom. Having this machine in our room would allow us to laminate important notes taken or work created to preserve the paper to last longer.

Far too often, students shove a paper in their desk or a folder and it ends up getting torn or bent.

With the paper laminated, we would not have that problem. We could laminate materials for our centers so they can be used over and over again. We would also be able to laminate other materials used in the classroom to preserve those as well to last longer.
