This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This project is designed to help my young students master the essential life skill of tying their shoes. The focus is on providing a hands-on, interactive learning experience that builds both fine motor skills and independence. Using wooden shoes as a tool, my students will have a durable and tactile model that makes it easier to see and practice the steps of tying laces. These shoes provide a stable and consistent platform, which can be particularly beneficial for learners who need extra support in developing coordination and dexterity.

My goal for this project is to enable all my students to confidently and independently tie their own shoes.

I know that using this wood lacing sneaker will strengthen my students’ fine motor skills through repeated practice. It will also build my students’ confidence by achieving this milestone in personal care.

My students are eager, hands-on learners who thrive in environments where they can engage with tasks directly. They are curious, determined, and enjoy overcoming challenges with a sense of accomplishment. This project will allow them to take pride in mastering a skill that enhances their independence, making each step of the process a meaningful and memorable learning experience.
