My Project

I teach a group of amazing students that live in inner city Richmond, Virginia. My students don't have experience doing science in a laboratory setting. In my chemistry class, we spend 90% of our class time in the lab doing authentic high school and college level chemistry. Many of my students have expressed excitement over doing "real" science and it's "cool" to wear googles and feel like a scientist. I want to enhance that feeling as I believe many of them can do more than just "feel" like a scientist.

I believe providing lab coats for my students will empower them to see themselves as professionals and scientists.
