My Students

My team and I have the joy of teaching some wonderful young men and women. They are kind, curious, imaginative, and socially concerned. We love being a part of their growth and seeing the wonder in their eyes when we are learning together. We believe that our students deserve the very best, and your generous donations will make it possible.

Sixth grade is a year of social, emotional and academic growth as our students stand on the cusp of becoming completely independent preteens.

They share a love of learning and are enthusiastic and motivated to learn in all facets of their young lives. Our school mission statement is: "We are learners who lead. We commit to succeed." Our goal and hope is to introduce a strong and rewarding positive behavior system that focusses on celebrating students that are doing the right thing each and every day.

My Project

These incentives will be used to reward students who have been "caught" doing what is right. As a sixth grade team, we want to celebrate and recognize the good that our students are doing. Students demonstrating positive behaviors will receive a My Kids Bank dollar which they will enter in their virtual online bank account. As teacher bankers, we have created and manage a savings account for each of our students. Each Friday, students have the opportunity to go shopping at our 6th grade store. This grant will help us stock our store shelves and motivate our students to be the respectful, responsible, and ready to learn students we know they can be.

Being able to provide our students with tangible rewards allows us to create a learning environment where students recognize what behaviors are accepted, expected, and appreciated.

Students will feel a sense of gratification and accomplishment when they make an effort to be a role model for others. Students will also practice real world math skills as they manage their virtual savings accounts, performing transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and calculating interest.
