Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The KUDOS Corner is a student lead, donation-based program that rewards students for displaying the school's core values in their behaviors.

Students earn KUDOS throughout the day and then can use them at the Kudos 'Store' to redeem items of their choice.

Students receive KUDOS dollars to use to "purchase" items in the KUDOS Corner store. These items include gift cards, snacks, toys, hygiene products, clothing, posters, etc. They earn these KUDOS by exhibiting the campus' core values in the classroom as well as throughout their normal daily activities. These rewards result in easier classroom management resulting in more learning taking place.

These items reflect items that excite them, but they might not have access to otherwise. Giving them a feeling of self-worth and participating in a program like this has improved behavior and campus morale.

The students who lead the program are also developing business skills that will stay with them through life. Learning lessons on how to run a sustainable business as well as interacting with people in a positive way.
