My Project

Over the years I have worked with different types of tables in my classroom, borrowing them when a teacher can spare one, or trying rectangular ones. A proper table gives students a structured space to take notes, organize their thoughts, and categorize information. This can help students make connections, create summaries, and review key concepts. I work with small groups every day and there are times where we have two teachers in the classroom. I only have one kidney table to use this year and a new flower shaped table can provide a designated learning space for working with my small groups when the kidney table is being used.

Research has shown that the physical environment, including the type of furniture, can significantly affect students' learning outcomes.

Comfortable chairs and spacious tables can enhance student engagement, as they feel more relaxed and at ease in their learning environment. Allowing the ability to lean in and talk to each other or for them to see something up close, without having to disrupt the group, is so helpful; specifically to students who need practice talking to each other because they are learning English.

A well-designed and visually appealing classroom environment can have a positive impact on students’ mood and motivation. By incorporating attractive furniture into the classroom, schools can create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere that encourages students to actively participate in their learning journey. Flexibility in furniture also allows for easy reconfiguration of the classroom space, enabling teachers to create collaborative work areas or arrange seating to facilitate group discussions. This adaptability encourages student interaction, teamwork, and a dynamic learning experience.
