My Project

My inner city mostly black students are often victims of racism. However, it is dismaying to see incidents of racism from Blacks towards Asians.

I want my students to be able to approach the topic of racism through the study of Japanese Americans internment during WW 2.

In doing so, I hope they will recognize the horror behind racism of all types and endeavor to overcome it.

Reading the memoir FAREWELL TO MANZANAR will give my students a greater understanding of this tragedy and the responsibility American citizens had in destroying so many Japanese Americans’ lives.
