This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are energetic, thoughtful, creative and care deeply about social justice and action. My school is a Title 1 school serving a diverse community of learners. We strive for racial, social, economic and academic diversity. We are committed to preparing student to be civic minded and to be the change they want to see in the world. We are a member of the EL Education network of schools that believes that students learn best when they are immersed in rich, engaging activities that are embedded into the curriculum.
My 6th graders are enthusiastic and curious learners.
I care about providing them with rich, authentic learning experiences. I also want to prepare them to be 21st century learners who are able to engage fully and safely in the world of technology that they are surrounded by.
My Project
Donations to this project will enable my students to get to know and understand the world around them. My goal is for my students to be global citizens who understand what's going on in the world and understand what it takes to make the world a better place.
These books will help them grown in their knowledge of geography, human rights and the kinds of problems facing the world today.
I hope to spur them to become active citizens who strive to be agents of change who will create a world they can be proud of.
