The kids on my caseload are full of positive energy and strive to be better daily. All kids I serve have an IEP that call for occupational therapy intervention. Most of the kids that I work with, learn daily in self-contained classrooms. Others are in general education but are pulled out for targeted instruction for certain subjects. Kids on my caseload have various diagnosis ranging from ADHD, autism and developmental delay. All the kids on my caseload want to do their best and fit in with their peers. With me being the occupational therapist for several students throughout the building, displaying a range of strengths and weaknesses, I want to be able to provide them with resources that will address their individual needs.
For this first in person school year since the pandemic, I would like to enhance my therapy sessions with exciting and fresh materials to capture their interest!
We are located in an area of the nation's capital that is up and coming, with plenty of resources outside of the building. However, there still remains a great need for resources inside our school walls to reach our scholars.
This school year has been off to a great start! Many scholars are eager to attend occupational therapy sessions with me. We enjoy using our room but have run into a kerfuffle. We no longer have carpet in our room which leaves tile flooring exposed and our tunnel for the obstacle course just broke! Having the obstacle course for my scholars at the end of each session is a huge motivator. The obstacle course also lets scholars self-regulate and get their sillies out before returning to class to attend to their homeroom teacher.
