This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright and eager to learn. Despite limited opportunities for creative exploration in our community, their enthusiasm and curiosity never waver. They bring a unique blend of energy and imagination to everything they do, making every day in the classroom an adventure.

To kickstart our Family and Consumer Science Program, we need essential resources like microwaves, utensils, and bowls.

These items are the building blocks of our students' culinary education.

Microwaves: Essential for quick cooking demonstrations and experiments, they teach basic cooking skills, food safety, and allow students to prepare simple, nutritious meals.

Utensils: Proper utensils are crucial for following recipes accurately, learning portion control, and understanding precision in cooking. They provide a solid foundation for developing culinary skills.

Bowls: Indispensable for mixing, preparing ingredients, and serving, a variety of bowls ensures students can engage in diverse culinary techniques, from whisking and blending to marinating and plating.

Our primary goal is to start something new for these kids by reintroducing the Family and Consumer Science Program after a 16-year hiatus. We aim to equip our students with essential life skills they will use forever. This program will teach them valuable cooking techniques and life skills such as nutrition, budgeting, and time management. We hope to ignite a passion that can lead to potential careers in the culinary field, providing a creative outlet and fostering a lifelong love for cooking and food.

Restarting the Family and Consumer Science Program will give our students the skills and knowledge they will carry with them throughout their lives. They are ready to embrace this challenge, and with your support, we can provide them with the resources they need to succeed.
