My Project

As we move toward the end of the year, I hope to leave the students with a love of learning. Soon they will be starting kindergarten, such a big milestone. I would love to place in every child's hand the story: King of Kindergarten. The book tells about a confident little boy who takes pride in his first day of kindergarten. He meets his teacher and finds his own seat while getting to know new friends.

It is a transition for the Pre-K child to go to a kindergarten/school-like setting in the fall.

I believe that literature is the key to helping with the transition.

This story is written by a male African American author. The protagonist is an African American boy, mirroring the students in my remote class. Literature is a great way to help with social-emotional transitions.
