Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have been learning about community, their town as well as their school community. We have also been learning about community service and kindness. We brainstormed ideas, and the students would like to become the Kindness crew. Since the days of COVID, there has been a disconnect between students, and it has truly impacted how our students treat each other. Empathy, kindness, patience, understanding, and respect for one another has changed and we are looking for ways to increase that school-wide.

One kid can make a difference, but when kids work together, the impact can be even greater.

For the kindness they will be spreading, it will be different on a few different days throughout the year. The students came up with ideas such as giving out prizes for kind behavior and snacks on days that might not feel so happy at first. This will help brighten each day! We will also be using the film to create a kindness board to film the kind acts. Students will be taking the pictures around the School.

Another group wants to display a backdrop with bubbles, decorations for the end of the school year with a student-created sign that says, "We are so glad you are here".

A third group wanted to give out goody bags with chips, snacks, ChapSticks, lotions. We will also write kind notes in there as well. We hope all of these supplies have an impact on the entire school and community. We hope this makes everyone feel so special.

They hope the kindness ripple continues even past their school community!
