My Project

One of the most important things we teach our children is to treat others the way you want to be treated. As a departmentalized 5th grade teacher, I talk with all of my students (and kids in other grade levels) about how to lead with kindness.

Creating a Kindness Club would aid in developing a school-wide culture where students are encouraged to uplift each other.

We plan on doing social-emotional student-led read-alouds, creating skits where students can practice positive language, kindness crafts, and weekly awards for students who are caught being kind. All of these activities will be planned and created by our amazing 5th grade students. Their dedication to positivity will no doubt, spread into students' homes as well as their community.

Paper will be used for posters, informational pamphlets, kindness awards. Paper is extremely scarce in our school, so it is a vital resource for our program. The t-shirts and tye dye kit will be used to create shirts that act as a uniform on Kindness Days. Toys, snacks, and candy will be gifts for students that win kindness awards. We intend on having quarterly community events hosted by our kindness club so students can express and share the impact of the club on their communities.
