My Students

"If we teach today as we taught yesterday we rob our children of tomorrow." John Dewey Our class is a very excited and charismatic class! Our biggest obstacle is limited technological resources that they can use independently to help expose them to reading and math skills.

We are a large group of 27 Kindergarten students, myself and our beloved assistant in a small room where we find space to coexist and learn.

My students live in a low income neighborhood, however, they continuously come to school each day with a positive attitude and a readiness to learn. Many of my students do not have exposure to technologies outside of our classroom. We are currently sharing our classroom desktop and SMARTboard. This gives limited time and availability to each child to use throughout the week.

My Project

Students will use the eight Kindles in our classroom to help them engage in reading and math activities. During math intervention time students will be using the Kindles for First in Math and other resources. During reading intervention and reading small groups students will use the Kindles to listen to stories, practice letter recognition, reading comprehension and other skills.

The Kindles will help my students and give them confidence in their reading and math skills.

The Kindles will also give students the opportunity to be independent while operating technological items easily and on their own. Thank you in advance from myself and my classroom for your kind donation!
