My Students

My students are difficult to sum up. They are diverse and quirky. They come from different backgrounds and a wide range of socioeconomic circumstances. They also have a wide range of interests and are ridiculously well-rounded for teenagers! Some of them think of themselves as history scholars; some of them as emerging scientists and artists.

One thing that they all have in common is that they are intensely thoughtful, creative, critical thinkers who are passionate about their arts education and excited to acquire the tools to help them delve deeper into their work here and enhance their creative experiences.

My Project

Learning how to do independent historical research is one of the major focuses of our history curriculum. It has the multiprong advantage of both allowing students to individualize their education to suit their historical interest, and preparing them for life beyond high school as they go on to do research in college and grad school.

Although our students are passionate about history and research, it is sometimes difficult for them to obtain the resources necessary for their success.

Many live in underserved communities without appropriate library resources and others don't have internet access at home. We've been working hard to expand our library, and would like to add a set of five Kindle E-readers to it, so that we can begin to grow our digital library as well as our physical one! This will allow multiple students to access the same book at the same time and maximize our resources!
