Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a Title I school, located in Los Angeles County where most of our students come from low-income households. Ninety-three percent of the students receive free lunch. My students are not only diverse in their cultural backgrounds but also in their learning styles.

My class is an Autism Special Education class.

My students are in the 3rd and 4th grade. Of my students, 90% are English Learners and receive services such as speech, occupational therapy, and social-emotional therapy. My students are awesome! They are eager to learn.

My Project

I will use these additional two Amazon fire tablets to use with Wonder Workshop Robots with my students. I will also use them with wonderful apps like Nearpod, Quizlet, Kahoot, and IXL, which will allow my students to interact with and review content in multiple formats while providing immediate feedback on their skill mastery and next steps. In addition, they will be able to access code.org to learn how to code.

The addition of these Amazon Fire tables to my classroom will help me ensure that all students are fully engaged in coding and their learning while holding them each accountable for their learning.

The tablets will also provide my Special Education students interactive and enjoyable ways to practice coding skills. Lastly, these tablets will help provide my students with the opportunities to practice the skills that will allow them to be successful, creative, and competitive leaders in the 21st century.
