Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is a multi-age, bridge class of 1st and 2nd graders from the East Village of Manhattan. They come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. My students possess positive attitudes toward learning. About 50% of my school's population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. Despite the fact that some students come from economic hardship, my students show up each day, happy, smiling, and ready to learn! Their thirst for knowledge never ends!

Each student has their own individual identity that helps make our classroom learning environment a special place.

Each child has their own unique strengths and interests that they bring to the learning experience. Furthermore, they all share a common interest for engaging with technology and exploring new topics.

My Project

We are living in a technologically advanced society where students are expected to understand and explore technology. The use of technology helps students build 21st century skills required for college and the workplace.

Through the use of Kindle Fire Tablets, students will be engaged in research projects, as well as centers across the various subject areas that will help them develop the skills they need to be successful.

Technology helps increase student engagement and unlocks a world that goes beyond the classroom. Students will use the tablets in pairs or small groups to promote collaboration, communication, and critical-thinking skills in the classroom.
