This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Pre-K through elementary school.

Our school is located in one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation.

Many of my students have special needs, are repeating a grade or are struggling academically to achieve grade-level expectations. Many of my students are from single-parent homes and reside in nearby public housing. The need essential resources to maximize learning opportunities to ensure they do their best work every day.

My Project

With the two Kindle Fire tablets, my students will have access to hundreds of educational apps for reading, math, science, and geography. The text-to-speech feature will support my students with disabilities by enabling my students to hear modeled expressive reading with appropriate phrasing and expression. No doubt, they will fall in love with books, learning and reading as they read and listening to books they cannot yet read independently.

My students can access literacy apps where they can practice and learn letter name, sounds and then blend those sounds together to make words.

The protective cases will prevent cracked screens caused by the inevitable slippery finger syndrome. The headphones will provide my students with privacy as they listen to and enjoy their favorite books online.
