My Students

As a teacher I want to instill the love of reading in each of my students. Motivating my students to read is sometimes a challenge, and I am always looking to move those who are less willing. In addition to helping with motivation, they are an amazing educational tool.

We are currently a Title I school with 76% low income families.

I have a wonderful group of students that are excited to learn this year. I am trying to introduce the students to different types of technology and show them the benefits. We have a lack of technology and all the students get very excited when we can introduce something new.

My Project

I have 2 classrooms of struggling students and the only books they are comfortable reading are "easy" books. Many of my students are embarrassed to be seen with these types of books by other students, so they do not read or they just pretend to "read" the large chapter books. In addition, these students can use the Kindle during Intervention to build skills or fluency. My struggling readers are not the only ones that can benefit from the Kindle. The Kindle can also be used with a smart Board so that we can read novels as a whole class and the students who need a challenge can use the Kindle to read newspaper articles or magazine.

The Kindle can introduce my students to the world of books and your donation to this project will provide an opportunity for my students to kindle the love of reading.

My students need a Kindle to have an opportunity to integrate literature with the technology of the twenty-first century.
