Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are average learners that do not have the resources to enable their leaning and enhance their education. I teach kindergarten at a K8 center. I currently teach 36 students by myself, in which six are ESE students (students with special needs/disabilities) including autism.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn" by Benjamin Franklin.

The students will be able to get a hands on experience as this will help them remember what they have learned. When students engage in learning by using hands on experiences, not only are they learning but using what they learn in real life experiences. Hands on learning is also engaging and fun.

I believe that all students especially young learners need to be in motion and engaged so that they can use what they have learned to become independent learners and learn to work with others in cooperative groups.

My Project

My kindergarten students range between 4 and 5 years of age.. In my class there are six special needs students, including autism. They are very excited, eager, and ready to learn! I feel that it is important that all students in the primary grades have a positive and hands on experience, so that they will remember the concepts easier. My class needs most of the materials to help facilitate their learning. Other materials will be used to better manage a class of 36 kindergarten students. Visuals including ten base blocks, interactive globe, and magnetic sentence strips will help the students visualize and mimic what is expected. Hands on experiences including the butterfly garden and centers are the best way children remember what they have learned. The timer will help students keep track of time. The reader tracker will help primary students stay focused on their work. Paint, brushes, glue, jumbo pencils, hoops, jump ropes, and other playground equipment will keep the students active. The laptop will be used for the students that need more one to one assistance.
