Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Kindergarten in a large New York City school. I have 20 students in my class who are incredibly creative and funny. I call them my "smart cookies" because they love to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds and have strong family ties.

Each student is creative and knowledgeable in their own personal way.

They all contribute to the class differently. I like to build a sense of community within my classroom. We learn and grow together. We help each other. The children come from different cultural and economic backgrounds, however most have good support systems at home. Many of my students in the beginning of the school year are shy and timid. By the end of the school year they are bright, shining stars! The transformation is remarkable.

My Project

The items on my list will have their own home- the seat sacks will help my students have everything they need in their own space; everything will be personalized. The Ziplocs that I ordered will help them organize their personal items such as crayons, scissors, pencils, etc. Pocket charts will help my students in each center learn important sight words. I strive for independence in Kindergarten.

The hand sanitizer will help my students stay healthy and clean.

The chair Tennys will help lower the noise in my room to maximize concentration and growth.
