My Project

My kindergarten students need to be exposed to a variety of tools and lessons should be delivered by a variety of modes to suit their learning needs. They also develop a deeper connection to school when there are incentives and exciting celebrations to look forward to. The various supplies are mostly consumables and need to be replenished throughout the years. I love to provide these tools to my students, but it is often the burden of expense falls on me.

Each tool has a specific use that helps connect my students to deeper learning and ensure growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

The dry erase erasers are essential to our classroom as students use these boards to practice writing, generate words, complete math activities, and explore artistically. Students need their own eraser to eliminate disruption to learning. The birthday crowns and Play-Doh as well as the pencil are a gift and something to look forward to giving individuals incentive for coming to school and for giving us opportunity to celebrate each student. The magnetic pattern blocks supplement our math curriculum by providing large examples of shapes for all students to see and we use pattern blocks a lot. The dry erase Elkonin boxes ensure a quick and easy way to practice identifying sounds and writing letters in unknown words-something we do daily in kindergarten which will help me easily facilitate a small group activity with no interruption.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and having tools at their fingertips helps to get them excited for school. They are also then exposed to various tools and strategies to help them connect to learning. As kindergarteners they need to have novel experiences to excite them and keep them interested in learning and opportunities to feel connected socially and emotionally.
