Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you ever wish you spoke more than one language or wished you were educated in two languages? Well, my Kindergarteners are doing it! I teach a dual-language class! My students learn one day in English and the next in Spanish! The model of my class is very special because half of my students are English dominant and the other half are either Spanish dominant or bilingual already! They work together every day to learn from each other and teach each other new things!

Our dual-language class provides integrated, inclusive, and unifying education experiences for our students.

The

atmosphere of inclusiveness in the class meets the cultural needs of our minority students and provides opportunities for them to experience the world of their non-minority peers. It is an exciting environment and we truly appreciate your support!

My Project

This spring, we will be starting our unit called Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems: Animals, Plants, and Their Environment! We are very excited to start this unit because our students love to learn about animals and plants! This project includes books about ladybugs, chicks, and plants. It also includes models that our kindergartners can manipulate to make more concrete connections.

We will get to do our own plant investigation, make a habitat for live ladybugs that we will bring to our school garden, and learn about the life cycle by observing chicks!

The books and models provided in this project will be great read alouds and supplemental materials to help us make better connections. Thank you for all your help!
