My Students

My students are movers and shakers and music makers! Kindergarten students will be introduced to the music room and will be able to play instruments of their own with the completion of this project. I am really looking forward to meeting this new group of students. I teach in a Title I school with 54% of our students getting free or reduced lunch. My students include a beautiful variety of nationalities who bring a rich cultural heritage with them.

My Project

I am excited to create these music-making and composing kits for my new kindergarten students in the 2021-2022 school year. In a classroom setting where materials cannot be shared currently, these kits will be used on a daily basis to let students explore sound, read, perform, and improvise rhythms and accompaniments, actively listen to music with scarf movement, and compose and perform melodies on the music staff.

From their individual spots in the room, students will be able to pull out their instruments or tools for composition and meaningfully participate in classroom activities by having hands-on experiences.

If students do need to learn from home across the camera, their bag will be sent or delivered to their home to participate across through the class online meeting.
