My Project
What I love most about my students is their eagerness to want to learn everything! Kindergarten is that grade where you feel joy and love everyday.
How many of us remember rug time?
It was a fun time where we improved socialization skills, established routines, improved our listening skills, and learned content that prepared us for the day and life.
At my school, more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 50% come from low-income households. Many of my students don't have many experiences or opportunities to develop their academic, physical, social, mental, and emotional needs. I plan to use the learning rug to enhance these limited skills and give them more exposure to what they need to be set up for success. The learning rug is used as a space that allows them to move their bodies, sing, dance, listen, and communicate with their teacher and friends.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
