My Students

My school is a Title I school in Central Arkansas. My school serves students Pre-K through Fifth Grade. Approximately 90% of our students are on a free or reduced lunch program. Many of the students do not come to school prepared with the materials they need to be successful.

This is my first year teaching and I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten!

I can't wait to start making a difference in the lives of my students! This is going to be a great year!

My Project

I am requesting several hands-on math manipulatives to help my students develop a strong foundation in base ten. My students are required to be able to understand how money works and to recognize coins and their respective values, but in order for them to achieve this goal I need additional materials. The comparing numbers, addition, subtraction games will allow students to relate numerals to amounts of money. The light table number manipulatives will be used for students to represent amounts of money using the coins I currently have. The Osmo coding game will help students develop important number recognition skills that will be necessary to learn about base ten. The Base ten kit will be used to help students understand that a group of ten is related a dime and ones are related to pennies, etc. The stem kit will allow students to solve real-life problems using quantities. The Dash robot and accessories I am requesting will help my students understand how learning these important math concepts will help them obtain important jobs in computer science.
