My Project

We have started using a new math program that involves a lot of hands-on discovery and discussion. This project is for Kindergarten students who are just learning how to be in school. These students learn best through exploration and hands on activities. Right now some of the materials we need for those hands on activities need to be replaced and replenished.

Students are enjoying all the play-based activities they get to participate in while learning the math content.

Some of these activities include running a pretend bakery using playdough to make cookies. The cookies are then used to compare the size, weight, and quantity.

Other activities are learning about measurement by creating jewelry using yarn. Students estimate the length they need using the yarn. These hands-on activities not only teach mathematics but engage the learners. Our curriculum also works to develop collaborative work and discussion. Playing games allows students to practice those skills.
