My Students

My kindergarteners are a group of incredibly diverse, curious, and imaginative kids who deserve an educational experience to match. My students are inner city, high poverty students with ambition. I teach at a Title I school where 100 percent of students receive free breakfast and lunch.These amazing kids love to learn together and are a wonderful picture of what our world can be. Although my kids live in very different households, from motels to apartments, to homes, they come to our classroom every day to a stimulating environment in which they can reach their full potential.

They love to learn and I want to explore the opportunity by having all the necessary materials they need.

My students come from different backgrounds and most of them aren't able to access the internet because of the lack of technology in the homes. It would be amazing of I could get all of my students the same materials so that no child is left behind.

My Project

I am requesting an Apple iMac for classroom learning for my scholars. Our young learners need visuals to better understand subject matter. They learn by watching, listening and participating in interactive activities in the classroom. This Apple iMac would be used for daily instruction with software currently provided for our Math, Science, and reading program as well as websites and software to further skills in Social Studies. By donating to this project, you will ensure that my students have open access to technology every day at school.

When a student needs additional help in a particular subject, having a computer in the classroom would allow me to access these materials and adapt lessons to meet my students’ needs.

Because computers can provide much information, I would also be able to use the iMac, connected to a document camera, to project educational videos to bring concepts to life and to project images to clarify and explain vocabulary. This would be especially helpful for my English language learners and special needs students. With your support, my classroom will be equipped with a much needed iMac that can be used to meet the learning needs of all my students.
