I am a kindergarten teacher. In our multi-ethnic school most of the families are lower income. Most of the students live in apartments and have multiple families living together. Some of the students rely on the food that the school serves as their only source of meals. All the students come to school eager to learn. It seems that the students are watching a lot of television at home because it might not be safe to play outside or they don't have the financial means to get educational toys in their homes. So I feel my classroom needs more hands-on manipulatives so the children can use their imagination to create things. Our school budget goes to books but the creative things are extra; therefore, it is never in our budget to purchase puzzles, etc. I think the solution to help make learning more fun is by bringing in more hands-on learning activities. I think the students will benefit from the Creature Builders and Snap and Play Toys. These toys help the students use their imagination and help them work together and get along. Working together and getting along are an important part of life. You can put a smile on 20 enthusiastic kindergarten students!!! Thank you!
