My Students

I spend my days teaching 16 kindergarten students. We are excited to learn and take on each day with new wonderment. Lots of stories to read, songs to sing, and activities to complete along the way!

My class is made up of 8 girls and 8 boys.

We all live in a rural area of central PA. We come from hard-working, middle to low class families. About half of my students come from broken homes, and about a quarter receive free or reduced lunches. We are very proud of our school, and a lot of students that graduate, stay in the area and raise their children here, too. My class is very energetic. We move around a lot. We are learning the alphabet, sight words, and the beginning stages of reading. We have recently began to add and we look forward to each new challenge in math.

My Project

I am requesting that the students receive wireless headphones and wireless mice. Each day, as we move through our language arts centers, my students stop at a technology center. While here, they work on such programs as abcmouse.com or AtoZap, both are educational learning games that track a child's progress. While the students are at the technology center, they are often entangled in wires from both the mice and the headphones. The wires wrap around table and chair legs, they wrap around little feet and sometimes even trip the kiddos. It would be so nice if they could just sit down and use the mice and headphones without having to worry about wires!

Not having the headache of wires will be such a blessing to our classroom.

Students will be able to increase computer time, since they won't have to untangle the wires just to get started working!
