Kindergarten kiddos are early learners ready to soak up everything they can get their hands on and explore.

My students are social beings and want to talk about everything they know and everything happening at home and around them. My kiddos are just learning about their emotions and how to handle them. Kindergarten students are still learning how to get their needs met in socially acceptable ways and how to interact successfully and positively with others. I am so lucky to work at a school that let's me build my program that best meets the needs of my students.

My Project

My students need hands-on materials such as two Storytelling Lapboards, three puppets, Tell-A-Story dress-Up Trunk and Fairy Tales Problem Solving STEM Kit to grow their literacy and S.T.E.M science, technology, engineering and math skills. Kindergarten students need to experience the world around them through their senses, through play and relationship building. They learn by making connections to things they can relate to from previous experiences. The lap felt board and story puppets allow them to re-tell either previous stories they are familiar with or re-tell in their own words new stories. It also allow them the opportunity to make up their own stories. This activity will help build their vocabulary and help prepare them for eventually writing their own stories. With the Fairly Tale Problem Solving Kit, kids engineer happier endings to fairy tales—as they design a house that can’t be blown down, construct a bridge that keeps 3 goats safe from the troll and build a chair even Goldilocks can’t break! Our kits help children discover the STEM in their favorite fairy tales—and naturally inspire them to explore each challenging situation until they find a solution!

My classroom will benefit from these resources and hands-on materials because they are inviting and fun to work with.

The kiddos will view these items as play and will learn at the same time. Kindergarten is the foundational learning for all the grades to follow and it is essential that my students not only learn the basic skills necessary for continued growth, but also to establish a love for learning. These materials and resources will do just that!
