Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

So many things have been turned around in this world due to COVID-19... now imagine this rapid change of events when you are 5 or 6-years-old and a kindergarten student in school for the very first time. Scholars in my class have been learning virtually (from home) all year.

Their first school experience is taking place over a computer, yet the children are still learning SO much daily, as they commit to learn from home.

While online learning has become somewhat of the new 'normal' these days, this is actually the only school experience my kindergarteners now know.

Many students in my school come from low-income housing. We have some families in temporary housing and other students who are bussed in from local neighborhoods.

My Project

My kindergarteners have worked so hard this school year, I am SO proud of them! They are the first in our school, and the entire nation, to have completed an entire year of kindergarten virtually! Their first year of school has been done completely online- and it's been simply amazing to watch them learn and grow so much! I'm looking to prepare gift bags as end of the year/ graduation presents!

At the end of each school year I love to gift my students with some special memories and keepsakes from their year in kindergarten!

I'd love to create a special picture frame with a class photo of all of my scholars, wearing graduation caps to celebrate our virtual kindergarten graduation.

In addition, since we've spent the entire year learning virtually online, I would love the opportunity to give each student in my class a summer learning book to properly transition them from kindergarten to first grade, as prepared as they can be!

My goal is to create these individual gift bags and hand deliver them to all of my kindergarteners, whom I miss SO much!
