Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

So many things have been turned around in this world due to Covid-19... now imagine this rapid change of events when you are 5 or 6 years old and a kindergarten student in school for the very first time.

We left school on a Friday and with no explanation, never returned to the building.

While I comprehend what it happening currently, the majority of my students do not understand why we chat on the computer and why we don't come to school anymore.

Many students in my school come from low-income housing. We have some families in temporary housing and others who are bussed in from local neighborhoods.

My Project

My kindergarteners have worked so hard this school year and now they are unfortunately missing the best memories and experiences of their kindergarten year. I'm looking to prepare gift bags as end of the year/ graduation presents!

At the end of each school year I always gift my students with a special picture frame holding a photo of their first day of kindergarten and their last day of kindergarten- the growth at this age and seeing it in a picture makes for such a special keepsake for parents and students, alike!

In addition, since we have been out of school since March, I would love the opportunity to give each student in my class a summer learning book to properly transition them from kindergarten to first grade, as prepared as they can be! Many parents have expressed their concerns about their children falling behind and I'd like to do anything I can to help!

My goal is to create these individual gift bags and hand deliver them to all of my kindergarteners, whom I miss SO much!
