My Students

I have 20 kindergarten students at a large inner-city school district in Ohio. Predominately, the students in my classroom come from a low socio-economic background. This is exemplified in that all my students receive free breakfast and free lunch.

The students are all very excited about learning, especially with hands-on activities.

They love coming to school and love to hear stories.

My Project

Most of the literacy and math curriculum in kindergarten is taught whole group on the carpet. Studies have shown that it is not developmentally appropriate for students to sit criss-crossed applesauce for long periods of time, plus it is extremely uncomfortable. I am asking for comfortable carpet chairs for each of my students. These carpet chairs are wonderful, because they provide back support and a padded cushion so the students can focus on learning rather than how they are sitting. Because of COVID-19 and sanitation, I am asking for one chair per student in order to encourage social distancing, and child will have their own individual space. Thank you for your support!!!
