This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-time kindergarten teacher, I am learning that it is hard to lead instruction when students lack the basic learning materials. With a class of bright 29 young minds, I am requesting classroom headphones, crayons, pencils, white-board markers, and white-board erasers.

The whiteboard materials are mainly utilized to teach students writing and phonics.

Crayons and pencils are essential kindergarten supplies that our classroom has been lacking, making the simplest tasks a challenge when the students and I have to spend time looking for pencils in our scarce supply. Moreover, headphones will help our classroom stay focused when it's time for independent learning on applications, such as Lexia and Dreambox which we use daily. However, with a lack of headphones, it has been hard for students to stay on task when everyone's volume is up trying to hear their screens simultaneously.

I currently teach at a predominantly Latinx elementary school in Los Angeles. My classroom is full of bright young minds full of compassion, resilience, and creativity. They are special to me, and I hope you can help me supply them with the materials they need to excel for the remainder of the year!
