My Students

Play is the work of children, and through play children benefit socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally. Help our classroom begin to develop our dramatic play center!

The students in our kindergarten classroom attend a Title 1 school in an underfunded inner city school district in Pennsylvania.

We are an arts and technology based charter school, struggling to get quality resources into the hands of our well-deserving students.

My Project

Kindergarten and early childhood teachers quickly realize that their Dramatic Play Center is a favorite area among children. And it is no wonder- a young child's family and home are the biggest part of his or her world! The imitation of what happens there and in the world around them is the central focus of how children play. By supporting this project, students will be able to act out and explore the lives of people by acting out their work, their feelings, and their words.

Perhaps the greatest opportunities for growth through dramatic play are in the areas of social & emotional development.

In a situation where children feel safe & protected, they can play out situations that are troubling them. As children are negotiating all the situations inherent in dramatic play, they feel a sense of accomplishment & pride. Dramatic play is open-ended, & through this nature of open-endedness, children cannot fail. They grow & learn according to their own development.
