My Students

The high school students I teach want to read interesting and exciting Spanish material. Children's books in Spanish will enable us to acquire more language.

"I want to attend Princeton" "I want to attend an in-state college" My students aspire to great expectations, and hold a plethora of goals.

Students frequently ask me what certain Spanish words mean, and I want to partner with them to ensure they can speak fluidly by the end of the year. The students I instruct attend a high need, primarily African American school in rural Mississippi. I want to provide them with more exciting learning opportunities, and typically, they have access to few opportunities to broaden their horizons learning about new, different cultures, and I work with them to discover their skills and tools used to learn about Spanish-speaking culture. Already, we acquired at least one hundred Spanish vocabulary words, and students want to communicate fluidly with native speakers.

My Project

Students will learn the Spanish language in creative, fun ways. By reading children's books such as Dog Breath, Good Night Moon, and Harold and the Purple Crayon in Spanish, my students will feel more interested and invested in the Spanish classroom. These children's books will create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere, where students want to learn the Spanish language, and reading the children's books will encourage students' language acquisition. I feel extremely grateful that my high school students want to learn more Spanish. The school lacks adequate funds to provide supplies that the global citizens need. Learning Spanish is one important step among many to realize our global citizenship. Please partner with me to cultivate my students' love for learning through children's books in Spanish.

The children's books in Spanish will make a significant and lasting impact on my students' lives because my students will remember reading and listening to children's books in Spanish class during high school.

Essentially, students will remember Spanish more readily because we learn Spanish in creative and fun ways.
