Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is composed of 26 amazing Kindergarten scholars who are all very creative, resilient, and caring. Our school just opened in South Central last year so we do not have many resources yet, but we hope to have plenty in the future!

Every day, my students work hard to better themselves.

They have a great thirst for knowledge and use the resources they have to learn as much as they can. I am so impressed by their ability to learn new information and share it with others.

My Project

Coding is an essential skill for many current and future jobs. While computer science drives innovation throughout the US economy, it remains marginalized throughout primary education. I want my students to have the basic foundational skills necessary to be able to visualize the possibility of having a STEM-career in the future.

Coding helps children become confident problem solvers.

With the Code-a-pillars and Code & Go Robot Mouse, my students will learn that there is more than one way to accomplish a task and they need to have perseverance to meet their goals. My students will be able to test their design plans again and again without a fear of failure.
