Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting books for our classroom that will capture my students' imaginations. Access to a classroom library will afford my students the opportunity to delve more fully into the content area of different stories and build their background knowledge while pursuing areas of interest to them. They have a thirst for knowledge and love subjects like animals, cultures and science.

Our school's mission is to empower each student with global awareness, knowledge, skills and values necessary to make a better world.

The school community plays an important role by providing a program of educational excellence which encourages all students to develop to their fullest potential.

Students thrive in a school environment saturated in print, and I want to provide those resources to help my students reach their fullest potential while cultivating a passion for learning.

A balanced literacy program, including books such as these leveled reader sets, is one in which students participate in a variety of whole-group, small-group, and individual activities related to a wide range of reading and writing experiences essential to the promotion of early literacy.

Our school's balanced literacy program focuses on guided reading, a focused reading group that is organized, structured, planned, and supported by the teacher. We serve students of all abilities ranging from special education to gifted and talented.
