This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I try to make kindergarten a memorable year for my young students. They love hands-on projects, and they especially love cooking in the classroom! Our days are so long and they get hungry with all the play and hard work. They always look forward to snack time, and we love letting them make their own food in a safe space.
Many of them come to my class without any prior school or daycare, and it is important to give them experiences that they may not get to have.
They often expect us to give them the answers, or to open packages for them. We teach our amazing kindergarten students to be independent, and it is so exciting to see them blossom throughout the year.
These supplies will help us to have the necessary tools to make weekly "Cooking Friday" happen! We find that we need the basic things, like spoons, cups and mixing spoons to do many of the projects we have planned. Having chef hats will make them feel extra important as they get to help us cook their snacks for the day.
