My Project

Hello! Our Kindergarteners are in need of some more games and manipulatives for their end of day "centers". This is a time for the students to learn important skills such as sharing, building friendships, working cooperatively with one another in small groups, creative thinking, and creative play. At our elementary school, even in kindergarten, these students work hard all day. Expectations are very high for them, and we do a lot of teacher instructed learning. This time at the end of the day is so very special to them, but we need more centers that the kids can enjoy and be stimulated by. I find that a lot of students go home and go straight to their tablets, loosing creative play time and time socializing with peers. With these toys I hope they can learn how fun playing with real toys are, and hopefully not desire technology over real play that is developmentally appropriate. The snacks are for children whose parents cannot afford to send them with snacks and who regularly do not get to enjoy a snack when the rest of the class does. The small treats are for incentives when students are going above and beyond, showing them immediately that hard work pays off.
