My Students

Kindergarten students are the best. They come to school ready to learn and nothing can stop them. Their love of learning is inspiring and should be developed each day. They love to have books in their hands - they love books about everything. They begin by looking at the pictures, to eventually reading the pictures to finally reading the words. It is an amazing process to watch.

My class is a multicultural class with students coming in with varying degrees of exposure to books.

While some students get read to each night, others have not experienced reading for pleasure or have ever even touched a brand new book. I would like all the students to have the opportunity to hold a new book in their hands and enjoy the feeling of being the first one to experience all the book has to offer.

My Project

Kindergarten is the foundation of learning to read. Children need to be exposed to many different types of reading materials. Classroom libraries are very important. I would like to add as many books as possible to our classroom library so students will have the opportunity to be exposed to many, many topics that they may not have ever been exposed to before. Kindergarten students get excited when they see a book for the first time. Adding new titles each day to our library will keep them excited throughout the year and help them grow as students each day. Thank you.
