Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our kindergarten classroom, we are moving, singing, dancing, and creating every day. My students love hands-on, engaging projects and come to school eager to learn. It's an honor to see them grow personally and academically in the classroom.
These books and games will allow students to build classroom community and practice critical skills for learning.
Kindergarten is a foundational year for social and academic skills. As their teacher, I want to ensure I fill all gaps needed for them to succeed both academically and as members of society. I am requesting materials that will enhance community lessons in our classroom and provide opportunities for academic learning. These back to school books will be used to teach students about how to work together as a classroom community, start conversations about coming back to school, and taking pride in our identities. The alphabet centers and games will allow students to practice letter recognition and sounds, both of which are vital skills to beginning readers. The chair will give me a space to read from that will allow all students to equally view the books and participate in the readings. The puzzle templates will be used as a get to know you activity our first week of school! We will use the envelopes to organize our centers and the rug will allow children to play in the dramatic play center and converse with one another. Oral language is a vital component to developing language, so the more opportunity students have to learn through play, the better.
