Kindergarten: A Place to Feel Safe and Free to Fidget

My Students
My kindergarten classroom is a place for students to feel welcome, safe, accepted, and comfortable! Kindergarten is a year of many firsts for students, and they deserve to have a personalized learning experience!
Five and six-year-olds are full of curiosity, wonder, and excitement and my job as their teacher is to provide them an environment where they can fulfill all of these qualities.
Each of my students is unique and I want to provide each students with a unique learning experience!
My Project
Each student comes to kindergarten with his/her own individual needs. Some students need to be able to have access to a variety of fidgets to help focus during both whole-group and small-group instruction.
Providing my students with different fidget options will help them take a leadership role in making the choice of how they will be better able to focus in the classroom.
Funding this project will greatly impact not only the students in my classroom, but future students! Each child comes to school with different needs and abilities, and I do not want to limit a student to only being able to "keep their hands in their lap". Students need to be able to move, wiggle, spin, etc. to help them reach their fullest potential in the classroom!
In addition, I want to provide a safe haven for students in my classroom. In years past, I have had one safe place for students to go to when they were feeling sad, angry, upset, etc. I want to create two safe places in my classroom to offer more students the opportunity to visit when needed. Giving students access to two safe places will allow students to feel safer, calmer, and more at home in my classroom.
