My Students

Technology is a key part of education. In order to succeed in today's world you need to be able to use all types of technology. Unfortunately, everyone does not have equal access. In order to give each child an opportunity, we need technology in the schools especially in the classroom.

I am a kindergarten teacher and this year I have 22 enthusiastic and energetic students.

Our school serves free lunch and breakfast to all of our students. My students are highly motivated to learn no matter what challenges they face at home or in the community. The parents help as much as they can and they want the best education for their child.

My Project

My students love technology and I don't have enough technology in my classroom. The two iPads that I am requesting will give my students a chance to work on the iPads daily. Right now I have three iPads, thanks to people like you I was able to get three iPads funded. In my class, I have five to six children in a group so if I get two more iPads then each child will get a chance to work on the iPad daily during group time. Last year we implemented the State Common Core Standards. The Common Core Standards involve thinking at a higher level and also, problem solving. So with the iPads my students will be able to solve puzzles, review skills, learn at their own level and have fun while learning. There are many apps that are perfect for kindergarten like Teach Me...Kindergarten, Math Blaster and Word Monkey. They can also take pictures and record themselves reading and play it back. The iPads will help my students build their self-confidence and get them ready for today's world.

After 20 years of teaching kindergarten, I have seen education go from a few computers in the whole school to Internet in every classroom.

Even though I went to college with a typewriter I want to prepare my students for the 21st century. They should feel comfortable using today's technology and one way to do it is to bring as much technology into the classroom. Most of my students don't have access to computers and tablets so please support my classroom! Thank you so much!
